John McGinn has been named Scottish Championship player of the season but believes Neil Lennon could make him an even better player next term. The Hibs midfielder enjoyed a fine campaign at Easter Road after joining from St Mirren last summer, helping the team win the Scottish Cup and reach the League Cup final.His latest accolade comes in a season which also saw him win his first senior international cap in March, putting in a man of the match performance as Scotland beat Denmark 1-0. It is something that I didnt expect to happen at the start of the season, he said.I remember sitting in with the gaffer [Stubbs] and he told me he would definitely make me a better player and I was wondering how he could guarantee that but after working with him and the coaching staff, I realised I was getting better and better. McGinn enjoyed a fine debut season at Easter Road I am confident in myself that I can carry it on next season and hopefully improve on this year. I have developed here and in the Championship and have been given opportunities at a higher level from here, so I dont see it being a problem next year and hopefully the opportunities can still come around.Personally it has been brilliant and I think this award tops it off for me.
